Smokin' Jack's Rib Shack

For the price I got a decent sized burger served quick. Besides the rude off comment I heard over my choice of Swiss cheese I was served quick. Here's my honest thoughts on the food. Fries were obviously good how can you mess up fries? That burger though? It was meaty but absolutely flavorless. To compensate I tried some of this barbecue and oh boy let me tell you something about this. It has such a oddly specific taste almost like a hot sauce without the hot part. I felt so confused and entranced I just kept dipping not even pit of joy of the taste but out of confusion. I cannot say I loved or hated it but it was something.

For some strange reason this was the first time I ever tried this place even though I've been coming to Bloomington all the way back when I had a fake ID at age 16. If I'm being honest the ribs were the just okay but maybe I should try a different sauce with them next time. The original sauce just wasn't flavorful enough for me. The mac and cheese was mid, and for the first time ever in one of my reviews I have to get five stars to the green beans. Was totally not expecting the green beans to be the star of the show, but they totally are. The staff is super friendly and nice and they did come out and ask if I needed anything. Meet little location, very clean and cozy. I will definitely give them another try very soon.

GREAT food! Awesome atmosphere & the cutest outdoor dining area with picnic tables & club houses. We have dined in, ordered to-go, & they have a drive up pick up window which is nice

This place is the definition of hole in the wall, but jeez you wanna talk about great! Way cool atmosphere, very cool’s setting with decorations and reminded me of a Tennessee cabin esthetic, we got catfish n fries, brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich, I got the brisket sandwich. The brisket had the perfect amount of fat on it that made it insanely flavorful, completely forgot to take pictures, will definitely be back to this place at some point, most likely with some others family or friends. 100% recommended, very good, DO NOT judge this place from the outside!

Having lived in Texas for a while, I know a thing or two about brisket...and their brisket is TOP NOTCH--incredible flavor, perfect tenderness, just excellent for this far north of the Red River... Great old timey atmosphere, this is how restaurants used to be when they had character and charm. Remember that?! They still got it. Look for the pink building and pink pig , then follow your nose inside !
